Baseball Recap: Simpson Academy Has No Trouble Against Booker T. Washington

While Simpson Academy put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Booker T. Washington. The Simpson Academy Cougars put the hurt on the Booker T. Washington Wildcats with a sharp 8-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Hendrix Magee was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Barrett McKenney, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Simpson Academy is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-5 otherwise. Braden Duncan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Simpson Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Booker T. Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Simpson Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-0 loss against Oak Forest Academy on the 7th. As for Booker T. Washington, they will take on Mountain Brook at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mountain Brook will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Booker T. Washington surely won't give up without a fight.
