There's no place like home for El Capitan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on the Grossmont Foothillers with a sharp 16-7 win on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vaqueros as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Landon Harbach was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Harbach was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, El Capitan let Kasen Baker and Seth Walker run wild. Baker went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Walker got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Baker has posted since back in May of 2024. Matthew Eckis also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
El Capitan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
El Capitan's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Grossmont, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-13.
