Baseball Preview: Polytechnic Panthers vs. Sage Hill Lightning

The Polytechnic Panthers will head out to take on the Sage Hill Lightning at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Polytechnic saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against Eisenhower by a score of 8-5.

Elijah Ip made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Caiden Kennedy was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Like Polytechnic, Sage Hill also got a great game from a two-way player: Griffin Robinson. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Robinson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Jad Rigley looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.

Back at the plate, Evan Stroner and Justin Glasser did most of the damage at the plate: Stroner went 3-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs, while Glasser went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bear Balossi, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
