Preview: Salinas Cowboys vs. Palma Chieftains
The Salinas Cowboys will head out on the road to face off against the Palma Chieftains at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Salinas is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
Salinas can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They blew past Everett Alvarez, posting a 44-14 victory on the road. Given Salinas' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Everett Alvarez is ranked 523rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Palma's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Soquel. Having soared to a lofty 52 points in the game before, Palma couldn't push the score so high this time.
Salinas' victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.33 points. As for Palma, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Everything came up roses for Salinas against Palma in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 47-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Salinas since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
