Softball Recap: Schoolhouse Prep Comes Up Short

Schoolhouse Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Stallions, falling 12-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stallions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in March.

Francela Verdura was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Valeria Vazquez, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Schoolhouse Prep's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Somerset Academy (Silver Palms), they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Schoolhouse Prep will be taking part in a tournament against Gulf Coast at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Somerset Academy (Silver Palms), they will take on West Broward in a tournament on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Stallions 3.8, the Bobcats 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
