Goliad had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Columbus Cardinals a 4-0 shutout on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

Barrett Garcia was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Goliad pushed their record up to 19-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Columbus, their loss dropped their record down to 13-12-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Goliad beat the Cardinals by a score of 9-5 on Friday.
