Baseball Recap: Bear Creek Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bear Creek ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Franklin Yellowjackets. That's two games straight that the Bruins have won by exactly two runs.

Nick Mayorquin and Tyler Gilbert did most of the damage at the plate: Mayorquin went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double, while Gilbert went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Mayorquin a new career-high. Evan Jackson was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Bear Creek has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
