Baseball Recap: Grayslake Central's Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

Grayslake Central dropped their record down to 23-6 on Saturday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stevenson Patriots. The Rams were not able to make up for their defeat to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

As for Stevenson, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-15. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

For Stevenson's part, Sam Prosk looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Prosk has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Stevenson saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kosuke Sakamoto, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Sakamoto has become a key player for the Patriots: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-14 otherwise. Another was Frank Costabile, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Coming up, Grayslake Central will take on Lakes at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Stevenson, they will venture away from home to take on Lake Zurich at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
