Basketball Preview: Skyview Wolverines vs. Horizon Hawks
The Skyview Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the Horizon Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Skyview focused on turnovers this week as the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
Skyview can't be to happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home. They lost 61-41 to Chaparral.
Despite their defeat, Skyview saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nevaeh Lucero, who had eight points plus three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Lucero has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Yzabella Tafoya, who posted nine points plus five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Horizon unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Collins on Tuesday.
Horizon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sofia DiAnnie, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds, and Neveah Stukas, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jada Dorsett, who posted four points along with three steals.
