Softball Recap: Hockinson Comes Up Short

Hockinson fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Mountain View on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mountain View Thunder by a score of 16-15. If the Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 8-7 to the Thunder when the teams met back in April of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Maggie Ritton and Renee Waddle stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ritton went 4-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Waddle scored four runs while going 4-for-6. Leeann Williams also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Even though they lost, Hockinson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Hockinson now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Mountain View, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hockinson will face off against R.A. Long at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mountain View, they will take on Battle Ground at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
