Baseball Recap: Pinole Valley Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Pinole Valley and Encinal, and Pinole Valley kept the tradition alive. The Pinole Valley Spartans fell just short of the Encinal Jets by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Pinole Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adriel Buenrostro, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Rey Malan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Pinole Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Encinal, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Pinole Valley will head out to challenge Bishop O'Dowd at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Encinal, they will be playing at home against Newark Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Encinal is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
