Softball Recap: Roy Comes Up Short

Roy extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-12. They lost 22-0 to the West Field Longhorns. The game marked the first time this year in which the Royals were not able to get on the board.

As for West Field, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Give their pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

For West Field's part, Brinklee Hadley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hadley has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kam Bell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Sarah Evans also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Coming up, Roy will head out on the road to challenge Clearfield at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Royals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for West Field, they will host Fremont at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Longhorns will need to watch out since the Wolves have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
