Baseball Recap: Quincy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Macomb

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Quincy). They never let the Macomb Bombers get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Tuesday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Bombers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Drake Gibson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Gibson was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Trace Routh was a standout: he scored a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cameron Lawson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Quincy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Quincy's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Macomb, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coming up, Quincy will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Geneseo at 4:00 p.m. As for Macomb, they will head out to challenge Illini Bluffs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bombers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 16 runs per game this season.
