Softball Recap: Riverside Find Success

Riverside won against Bellefontaine last Tuesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Riverside walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Fort Loramie Redskins. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Riley Dillon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Dillon was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emilee Robinson, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Zoey Ransbottom also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Riverside hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Riverside's record is now 4-1. As for Fort Loramie, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside will challenge Indian Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Loramie, they will venture away from home to face off against Houston at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
