Basketball Game Preview: St. Anthony's Friars vs. Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders

The St. Anthony's Friars will take on the Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders in a holiday battle at at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Monsignor Scanlan is hoping to do what St. John's Prep couldn't on Wednesday: put an end to St. Anthony's winning streak, which now stands at four games. St. Anthony's snuck past St. John's Prep with a 56-52 win.

St. Anthony's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Taylor Jr., who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Taylor Jr. a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Nicolas Vieux, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Monsignor Scanlan came up short against High Point Christian Academy on Thursday and fell 74-61. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monsignor Scanlan now has a losing record at 1-2. As for St. Anthony's, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
