Volleyball Recap: Shorecrest Prep Falls to Mitchell in First Game of Season

Shorecrest Prep had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Mitchell Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chargers of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Shorecrest Prep sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-21, 13-25, 25-14, 25-27, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Shorecrest Prep had strong showings from Sara Ferris, who had 17 digs and nine assists, and Ava Stanton, who had 19 digs and four assists.

Mitchell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Hatzistefanou, who had 21 assists and 11 digs. That's the most assists Hatzistefanou has posted since back in September of 2024.

Looking ahead, Shorecrest Prep will be playing at home against Northeast at 7:00 p.m. on the 27th. As for Mitchell, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Gulf on the 21st.
