Basketball Recap: Eleva-Strum Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Eleva-Strum duked it out with Black River Falls on Monday. The Cardinals took a 79-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly nine points.

Braylon Backaus produced another solid effort going 11-for-22 en route to 30 points and four steals for Black River Falls. That makes it four consecutive games in which Backaus has scored at least a third of the Tigers' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Meimann, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Eleva-Strum and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Black River Falls, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Eleva-Strum didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-59 defeat against Pepin/Alma on the 12th. As for Black River Falls, they have also already played their next matchup, a 78-74 win against Arcadia on the 12th.
