Baseball Game Preview: El Toro Chargers vs. Katella Knights

The El Toro Chargers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Katella Knights at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for El Toro's offense. They lost 11-0 to Sonora on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Chargers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Katella entered their tilt with Valley Christian on Wednesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Defenders. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kevin Reyes Mejia was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those home runs were his first of the season. Andrew Ureno was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Katella's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for El Toro, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

El Toro took their victory against Katella when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0. Will El Toro repeat their success, or does Katella have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
