Basketball Recap: Landon Osswald's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hamilton Southeastern over Westfield

Hamilton Southeastern won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They lost 62-36 to the Westfield Shamrocks. The game marked the Royals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Hamilton Southeastern's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Osswald, who posted seven points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Jack Jacobs, who had six points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Durante Morton, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds. Brock Detamore was another key player, putting up 12 points and five boards.

Hamilton Southeastern's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Westfield, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Hamilton Southeastern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-56 loss against Anderson on the 18th. As for Westfield, they will host Yorktown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Yorktown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.
