Football Game Preview: Seton Catholic Cougars vs. Banks Braves

The Seton Catholic Cougars are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Banks Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Seton Catholic took their contest with ease, bagging a 52-6 win over Castle Rock. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Meanwhile, while Banks put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for North Marion. The Braves simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Huskies 65-0. Fans of the Braves have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Banks' win came from a few key players Seton Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nate Lyda, who threw for 137 yards and one touchdown on only nine passes, and also rushed for 30 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Lane Gilbert also helped with two scores in total.

One reason for the win was Banks' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Cole Wilson refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Gilbert got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Banks, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jarrett Martin, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Seton Catholic now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Banks, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
