Volleyball Recap: St. John's Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. John can now relate to. They came up short against the Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers on Saturday, falling 3-0. The Cadets have struggled against the Mighty Hoppers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

St. John's offense was headlined by Morgan Reeves and Racquel Frazier, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Wynn Eaton and her 12 assists. Gabrielle Deutz controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Georgetown Day's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexa Gillespie, who had four aces. That's the most aces Gillespie has posted since back in September.

St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 25-6. As for Georgetown Day, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 25-1.
