Recap: Benton Tigers vs. Captain Shreve Gators
After a string of three wins, The Benton Tigers''s good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were outmatched by Captain Shreve on the road and fell 65-33. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Captain Shreve was led to victory by Jamarlon Otis and Quortni Beaner. Otis rushed for 236 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, while Beaner rushed for 163 yards and four touchdowns. Beaner hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for four straight games.
Benton's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Texas and 8-1 Airline (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 77.8% over those games). As for Captain Shreve, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Benton will look to defend their home field on November 3rd against Parkway at 7:00 p.m. Parkway will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Captain Shreve, they will head out on the road to face off against Haughton at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Haughton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Captain Shreve is ranked 28th).
