Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Mount Dora Christian Academy's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

Mount Dora Christian Academy was handed a 24-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-57 victory over the Wildwood Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 67-65 back in November of 2024.

Mount Dora Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Marenco, who went 9 for 19 on his way to 24 points. That's the most points Marenco has posted since back in December of 2024. Haydon Tombros was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

When it comes to explaining why Wildwood lost, don't look at Gio Wright. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetrius Knight, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Mount Dora Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Wildwood, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-6.
