Basketball Game Preview: Cordova Wolverines vs. Susitna Valley Rams

Cordova hasn't had much luck against Susitna Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The two teams will face off at 11:00 a.m. without much rest, having both just played. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Cordova heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 49-16 loss at the hands of Seward. The game marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Susitna Valley ended up a good deal behind Unalakleet on Thursday and lost 44-28. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Wolfpack are ranked eighth).

Susitna Valley's loss dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Cordova, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Things could have been worse for Cordova, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 43-27 loss to Susitna Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Cordova avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
