Volleyball Recap: Maize South Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Autumn Popp and Kendyll Nash

Maize South and Saint Thomas Aquinas squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Maize South had to settle for second. They fell 2-0 to the Saints. The Mavericks haven't had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Kendyll Nash and Autumn Popp certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Nash had seven assists and six digs, while Popp had 12 assists and ten digs. Popp has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 14 times she's played.

Saint Thomas Aquinas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Nelson, who had seven digs and one assist. Alayna Vaeth also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Maize South's defeat dropped their record down to 36-7. As for Saint Thomas Aquinas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-5 record this season.
