Waupaca is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Wittenberg-Birnamwood is on an eight-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Comets will host the Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cael Prey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Max Dolski was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Waupaca's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't). John Zeamer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Wittenberg-Birnamwood made easy work of Weyauwega-Fremont on Thursday and carried off a 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Waupaca, Wittenberg-Birnamwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Connor Meverden. On the mound, Meverden tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Zandyr Barke pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meverden has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Meverden went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI, while Barke went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie Nowinsky, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Waupaca is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, their victory bumped their record up to 21-2.
