Baseball Game Preview: Kanab Cowboys vs. Millard Eagles

For the second straight game, Kanab will face off against Millard. The Cowboys will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kanab has five straight victories, Millard has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Kanab is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Millard 21-1 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Walker Baird was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kash Kabonic was a standout: he scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kale Glover was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Kanab always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millard only posted an OBP of .333.

Kanab's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Millard, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
