Softball Game Preview: Northgate Broncos vs. American Canyon Wolves

The Northgate Broncos will challenge the American Canyon Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Northgate is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Northgate's offense. They fell 3-0 to Alhambra on Tuesday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Broncos were not able to get on the board.

Northgate saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stella Hanko, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, American Canyon also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Maria Carrillo by a score of 17-13. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Raquel Winterburn and Jayden De Los Santos stepped up to the plate in a big way. Winterburn scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while De Los Santos went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Del Castillo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

American Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1. As for Northgate, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Northgate hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like American Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Northgate came up short against American Canyon in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
