Softball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Lemont's Winning Streak

Lemont dropped their record down to 23-8 on Saturday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They fell 7-3 to the Beecher Bobcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lemont HS of the 10-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Lemont had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from Mila Mardjetko and Sydney Kibbon Mardjetko didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched, while Kibbon tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Kibbon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lemont saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Pacyga, who went 2-for-5 with one run.

As for Beecher, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 30-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

On Beecher's side, Ava Lorenzatti made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Lorenzatti was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-6 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ava Olson was excellent, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alexa Gliva, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Coming up, Lemont will be playing at home against Tinley Park at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lemont HS' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. Beecher does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
