Basketball Game Preview: Service Cougars vs. Basic Wolves

The Service Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the Basic Wolves at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Service saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against Rancho by a score of 74-63.

Meanwhile, Basic came into Saturday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 63-55 victory over Churchill County on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wolves' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Greenwave are ranked 17th).

Basic's win came from a few key players that Service will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jeremiah Combs, who shot 48% from the field en route to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Hudson Yakubik was another key player, putting up ten points along with six steals and five assists.

Basic's victory bumped their record up to 2-10. As for Service, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
