The San Francisco Waldorf Wolverines will square off against the Galileo Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
San Francisco Waldorf came up short against Westmoor on Tuesday, falling 15-5. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Sam Appel was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Yuumi Kakinuma, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Galileo made sure to put some runs up on the board against Gateway on Tuesday. Galileo blew past Gateway 12-2. Considering the Lions have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Zane Ridley and Elijah Michael made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ridley struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Michael pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Ridley has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season. At bat, Ridley went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs, while Michael scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. Ridley also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Galileo got a massive performance out of Diego Gil, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Elliott Hartman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Galileo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway only posted a batting average of .190.
Galileo now has a winning record of 3-2. As for San Francisco Waldorf, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. San Francisco Waldorf has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Galileo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
San Francisco Waldorf couldn't quite get it done against Galileo when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can San Francisco Waldorf avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
