Mt. Pleasant hasn't had much luck against Silver Creek recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mt. Pleasant is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on San Jose with a sharp 19-2 victory on Thursday. The Cardinals have beaten the Bulldogs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.
Nate Ortiz made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Ortiz was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Julian Saldana was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bryan Lopez Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Mt. Pleasant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .654. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Silver Creek and San Jose, and Silver Creek kept the tradition alive. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Bulldogs on Saturday.
Like Mt. Pleasant, Silver Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Giovanni Mejia. Throwing, Mejia struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Robert 'Bobby' Resendez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Mejia scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Resendez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Silver Creek got a big performance out of Nicholas Prum, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Prum hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayleb Duran, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Silver Creek has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mt. Pleasant has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Silver Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
