Basketball Game Preview: Stanton County Trojans vs. Lakin Broncs

Stanton County is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Lakin is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Trojans just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Broncs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Stanton County is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Deerfield: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Trojans blew the Spartans out of the water with a 77-48 final score. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 29 points or more this season.

David Crane had another great game (as he tends to do), dropping a double-double with 32 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Stanton County's points. Another player making a difference was Gerardo Robles, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 20 points along with six assists and six boards.

Stanton County was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2025.

Meanwhile, Lakin humbled Elkhart with an 83-32 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Broncs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Wildcats are ranked 309th).

Lakin's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Stanton County, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.

Stanton County came up short against Lakin in their previous meeting back in January, falling 62-52. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
