Recap: Linn Wildcats vs. Marshall Owls

In what's become a running theme this season, the Linn Wildcats gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Marshall 64-36 on the road. Given Linn's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Marshall is ranked 400th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Kiana Hostetler, who scored 21 points along with seven assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivien Baker, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Marshall lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brooklynn Davenport. Despite the final result, she scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Katarina Simic, who scored nine points.

Marshall struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Linn pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

The victory got Linn back to even at 8-8. As for Marshall, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Linn's road trip will continue as they head out to face Fulton at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Linn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday. As for Marshall, they and Hallsville will face off on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Marshall and six for Hallsville.
