Baseball Recap: Charles City Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Charles City's offense. They lost 15-0 to the Mathews Blue Devils on Tuesday. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Blue Devils from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Charles City saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Damian Barnes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. Damian Zuidema also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Charles City and nudges their season record down to 1-7. As for Mathews, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Charles City will head out to face off against King William at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cavaliers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Mathews, they will welcome Northampton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
