Football Game Preview: Springfield Cosmos vs. Mill River Minutemen

The Springfield Cosmos will venture away from home to square off against the Mill River Minutemen at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Springfield's offense might be in the hot seat on Saturday considering what happened against Woodstock on Thursday. They took a blow against the Wasps, falling 38-0. That makes it the first time this season the Cosmos have let down their home crowd.

Meanwhile, Mill River lost to Otter Valley on the road by a 25-7 margin on Saturday. The contest marked the Minutemen's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mill River's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Springfield, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Springfield beat Mill River 14-6 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cosmos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
