Baseball Game Preview: High Point Christian Academy Cougars vs. Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs

The High Point Christian Academy Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Monday just wasn't the day for High Point Christian Academy's offense. They fell just short of Oak Grove by a score of 1-0 on Monday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

High Point Christian Academy got a good showing from HUNTER KELLEY, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched.

Meanwhile, Wake Christian Academy hadn't done well against Cary Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Wake Christian Academy walked away with a 5-1 win over Cary Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Gavin Pacileo tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Jeffrey Newsome was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Collins, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Wake Christian Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for High Point Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. High Point Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wake Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

High Point Christian Academy came up short against Wake Christian Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 5-1. Can High Point Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
