Football Recap: Copper Hills Comes Up Short

Copper Hills lost against Mountain Ridge back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Grizzlies were dealt a 49-15 loss at the hands of the Sentinels. The contest marked the Grizzlies' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Copper Hills had strong showings from Ethan Hill, who threw for 184 yards and a pair of TDs, and Logan Batt, who picked up 111 receiving yards and two scores. Batt is crushing it when it comes to receiving yards: he's posted at least 103 every time he's taken the field this season.

Jaxon Hunt was his usual excellent self, throwing for 380 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 36 yards and one TD for Mountain Ridge. Those five passing touchdowns gave Hunt a new career-high. A healthy portion of Hunt's aerial production (110 yards to be exact) went to Grayden Dumas, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Copper Hills' loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mountain Ridge, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Copper Hills will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cedar Valley at 7:00 p.m. As for Mountain Ridge, they will host Box Elder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bees' defense has only allowed 7.4 points per game this season, so the Sentinels' offense will have their work cut out for them.
