Meanwhile, Thompson faced Auburn in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Warriors fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty six goals in the game before, Thompson couldn't push the score so high this time.

Oak Mountain pushed their record up to 27-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Thompson, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8-1.
