Basketball Recap: Ragsdale Comes Up Short

Ragsdale lost against Grimsley last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Ragsdale Tigers had to suffer through a 77-49 loss at the hands of the Grimsley Whirlies. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 601st, while the Whirlies are ranked 200th).

Grimsley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Whitsett, who went 10 for 20 on his way to 27 points. With that strong performance, Whitsett is now averaging an impressive 16.7 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Trent, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 18 points.

Ragsdale is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10. As for Grimsley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Ragsdale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-65 defeat against Southeast Guilford on the 21st. As for Grimsley, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on College Prep & Leadership Academy at 2:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
