Baseball Game Preview: Borah Lions vs. Bishop Kelly Knights

The Borah Lions are headed away from home for the first time to take on the Bishop Kelly Knights at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop Kelly took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Borah, who comes in off a win.

Borah not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024. They blew past Boise 14-7. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lions needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Tate Kubena was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Kubena was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, Borah let Brady Robinson and Carson McCarney run wild. Robinson scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while McCarney scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Robinson has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Dennis, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Bishop Kelly came up short against Mountain View on Thursday, falling 12-6.

Colin Brazil was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Sy Wong, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The win got Borah back to even at 1-1. As for Bishop Kelly, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
