St. Albans and George Washington are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Red Dragons will take on the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Albans' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past South Charleston 11-0. The victory was nothing new for the Red Dragons as they're now sitting on three straight.

Ava Bentley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Paige White and Carlee Parker did most of the damage at the plate: White went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Parker scored a run while going 3-for-3. Ali Long was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
St. Albans kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask George Washington). They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over Oak Hill on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Ava Sitler was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Campbell Lunsford, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
George Washington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for St. Albans, their record is now 6-4.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Albans has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. However, it's not like George Washington struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Albans couldn't quite finish off George Washington when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Red Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
