Football Recap: Thompson Valley Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Thompson Valley and Holy Family squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Thompson Valley had to settle for second. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Thompson Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donovan Closz, who picked up 126 receiving yards and one TD. Closz showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 52 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Lucas, who threw for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.

Thompson Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Holy Family, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

Thompson Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holy Family, they will face off against Mead at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mavericks' defense has only allowed 8.2 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
