Basketball Recap: Purvis Takes a Loss

After flying high against Mize two weeks ago, Purvis came back down to earth. 2025 welcomed the Purvis Tornadoes with a 59-33 loss courtesy of the Lawrence County Cougars on Friday. The game marked the Tornadoes' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Purvis' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-7. As for Lawrence County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Sumrall the next time they take the court. Lawrence County will head out to face Sumrall at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Purvis will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
