Softball Recap: Chatsworth Find Success

Chatsworth barely beat Poly the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Chatsworth blew past Poly 9-1 on Wednesday. The Chancellors haven't had any issues with the Parrots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Samantha Roldan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Lila Mashhoud was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Izellah Saldate-Gomez, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Chatsworth lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Chatsworth's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Poly, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Chatsworth didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-7 defeat against Garfield on the 22nd. As for Poly, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-1 victory against Sylmar on the 21st.
