Baseball Recap: Fairdale Takes a Loss

Fairdale fell victim to Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 17-0. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jai Smith and Luke Party were huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. Throwing, Smith pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Party pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Smith earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases, while Party went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Fairdale got a massive performance out of Carter Smothers, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Smothers has launched this season. Cooper Cummings was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Fairdale's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-21. As for Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

Fairdale didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-9 loss against Kentucky Country Day on the 30th. As for Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 20-2 defeat against Doss on the 1st.
