Basketball Recap: Ingalls Bulldogs vs. Hodgeman County Longhorns

Even though the Ingalls Bulldogs have not done well against the Hodgeman County Longhorns recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Ingalls came out on top in a nail-biter against the Longhorns and snuck past 39-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ingalls.

Olivia Stein was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Stein is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Kami Whipple was another key contributor, scoring three points.

When it comes to explaining why Hodgeman County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Taylor Bamberger. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Morgan Ruff, who scored five points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Ingalls has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Hodgeman County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ingalls will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Red Aces at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Bucklin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. As for Hodgeman County, they will head out on the road to face off against the Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Gray is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Longhorns a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
