Javy Carrera was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Davian Carrera was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Seth Pitcock, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Westview waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Flying Jets.
The team relied heavily on Jack Massey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Engle, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
Westview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Adams Central only posted an OBP of .333.
Boone Grove's record now sits at 24-5. As for Westview, their record is now 15-11.
Boone Grove's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Wolves have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game.
