East Wake Academy is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Wake Prep Academy. That's two games in a row now that East Wake Academy have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Franklin Academy strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their defense stepped up to hand Research Triangle a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Franklin Academy, who have now won seven games by four goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Research Triangle from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Olivia Olarte led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Franklin Academy's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six contests. As for East Wake Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
