Baseball Game Preview: Ionia Bulldogs vs. Eaton Rapids Greyhounds

The Ionia Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Eaton Rapids Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Ionia barely beat Lakewood the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Vikings 10-4 two weeks ago. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bulldogs' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Parker Seidelman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. Seidelman was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ionia got a massive performance out of Jaxon Palmer, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that Palmer snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Hunter Roundtree, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

Ionia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eaton Rapids). They put the hurt on Haslett with a sharp 14-7 victory on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Eaton Rapids and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Ionia, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Ionia beat Eaton Rapids 4-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
